May's Morning Routine

I believe having a daily routine is essential for productivity and success. But what is more important than that is having a morning routine.  The morning is the your time to start anew and to start fresh.  When the morning goes right, it gives the rest of your day momentum and energy.  I am going to walk you through my newly founded morning routine, thanks to inspiration from various followers on instagram.

1. Writing

This activity I used to do regularly in the evenings before I went to bed, however, I've found myself writing down not only my thoughts but my dreams aswell. Why? Well, because we are at the highest point of creativity after we wake. I dont know about you, but my thoughts during this time are with everyone else includng my family, friends and everyone else that was once close to me. By writing them down we can understand our feelings 10 times better than we could if we were feeling them the night before.

On the productuivity side of things, I am always writing down what I want to achieve that day, whether it be upload some new website information, talk to a few friends etc. My objective is always to tick these boxes to make sure my day will be complete at the end of it.

2. Meditation

My dad who owns his own alternative health centre always used to reccomend meditation. and I never really considered actually doing it until a few months ago, There are so many benefits to meditating first thing in the morning, especially if there's a few meetings I have for that day aas it helps reduce anxiety and stress. Other benefits include boosting my emotional state whilst also helping me be kinder to the people around me.

3. Shower & Changed

The shower is where I actually feel fresh, and I can literally have a guilt free shower using a shampoo and conditioner bar and my newly bought safety razor for shaving, I know I am not wasting anything or using anything kept in plastic. I get dressed as soon as I leave the shower but after drying obviously.

4. Breakfast

Breakfast provides the body and brain with fuel after an overnight fast - that's where its name originates, breaking the fast! Without breakfast you are effectively running on empty, like trying to start the car with no petrol!

Apart from providing us with energy, breakfast foods are good sources of important nutrients such as calcium, iron and B vitamins as well as protein and fibre. The body needs these essential nutrients and research shows that if these are missed at breakfast, they are less likely to be compensated for later in the day.

To Summarise

The most important thing isn't what time you get out of bed - it's getting in tune with your body's clock for a good routine. A healthy morning routine may be the most important -- no matter what time you wake up. Your body actually knows what it should be doing and when. Don't force yourself to be part of the 5 am club if you can't fall asleep before midnight.

Getting enough sleep and waking up when your body is ready will lead more often to a productive day than making a habit of forcing yourself out of bed hours before your brain is ready—that's a recipe for burnout. Plus, the habit won't last long. If you're not a morning person, you can't force it and your body will only work with you for a few days before it says "no more!"

Lets have a morning routine every morning in May! Whilst also ensuring we are using zero plastic.
